Know Your Bible Seminars

See below for video recordings of all three seminars.

These seminars took place March 14, 28, and April 11, 2021.

SEMINAR #1: HOW WE GOT THE BIBLE

Have you ever wondered where the Bible came from?
Or how God worked in human authors to produce this holy book?
Or why some books were included while others were not?
We’ll cover these topics and more in the first seminar, as we explore how we got the Bible that we have today.  LOOKING FOR BIBLE TRANSLATIONS.  SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE...

SEMINAR #2: THE STORY OF GOD

The Bible is a long book that tells a complex story that spans thousands of years. It's no wonder that it's so easy to get lost in the details and fail to see how it all fits together. The second seminar covers the entire Story from Genesis to Revelation in less than 90 minutes.

SEMINAR #3: STUDY THE BIBLE FOR A CHANGE

How can I get the most out of reading and studying the Bible? This final seminar in the Know Your Bible Seminar series gives simple and practical steps to study the Bible. The goal is to understand the message of a particular passage from the Bible on its own terms, learn what it is seeking to teach, and then consider how it can change your life today.

Recommended Bible Translations (can be found on YouVersion app or biblegateway.com):

  • New International Version (NIV) - contemporary English, dynamic thought-for-thought translation, 7-8th grade reading level (used at RBC for preaching)
  • English Standard Version (ESV) - contemporary English, leans more toward a formal word-for-word, 10th grade reading level
  • Christian Standard Bible (CSB) - contemporary English, tries to have an even balance of dynamic and formal translation, 7th grade reading level
  • New Living Translation (NLT) - simpler, natural sounding English, thought-for-thought translation, 6th grade reading level
  • New King James Version (NKJV) - updated English from the original KJV, it is a formal and more literal translation, based on a slightly different Greek and Hebrew text than other modern translations, 7th grade reading level (KJV is 12th grade reading level due to its archaic English)
  • New Internationl Reader's Version (NIrV) - designed for children and beginner non-native English readers, this is an edit of the NIV to put it in as simple English as possible, 3rd grade reading level
